Masterclass

Learn to Pattern Draft, Build and Fit an Underbust Corset Mockup to Professional Standard, in Just Two Days.

A rare, in-person masterclass for fashion and costume construction students who want to move beyond university theory, and into the real world of professional garment making.

You’ve studied fashion or costume construction. You understand the principles of pattern making, garment structure and construction.

But when it comes to corsetry, the kind of precise, performance-ready corsetry demanded by the world’s most prestigious companies, your degree hasn’t taken you there.

And it’s not your fault.

Corsetry is one of the most technically demanding disciplines in garment making. The fitting process alone, diagnosing fit issues on a real body, understanding how a silhouette changes under performance conditions, being able to guarantee a result in a single fitting, is rarely taught at university level, if at all.

You know what a corset should look like. But do you know how to make one fit?

Here’s what that gap costs you once you’re out in the industry:

  • You sit in a fitting and you can’t confidently diagnose what’s wrong or what to do next
  • You spend hours making corrections that a more experienced maker would have avoided entirely
  • You produce technically constructed garments that still don’t fit the person wearing them
  • You’re unsure whether a corset will hold under the physical demands of performance
  • You miss opportunities because you don’t yet have the evidence that you can deliver at the highest level

The makers who get the most prestigious work, costumes for the Royal Ballet, English National Ballet, West End productions, aren’t necessarily those with the longest CVs. They’re the ones who can walk into a fitting room, read a body, and guarantee the result.

Confidence in the fitting room isn’t something you’re born with. It’s a skill. And until now, there’s been almost nowhere to go to learn it properly.

Introducing: The Underbust Corset Construction Masterclass

This is a two-day, hands-on in-person masterclass designed for fashion and costume construction students and recent graduates who want to master the fundamentals of professional corset making — from pattern to fitting, in one intensive, expert-led experience.

You won’t just watch someone make an underbust corset. By the end of Day 2, you will have:

  • Pattern drafted your own underbust corset, scaled precisely to your measurements
  • Constructed a full test piece (mockup) complete with boning — start to finish
  • Completed a fitting session to identify fit defects — and learned how to correct them
  • Left with the professional techniques and real-world confidence to repeat this process independently

This is the turning point between studying construction and doing it at a professional level.

Your Instructor: Amédine Bello

Amédine is a specialist costume and garment maker whose work is performed in some of the world’s most demanding spaces, the Royal Ballet & Opera House, the English National Ballet, and London’s West End.

She works directly with designers, supervisors and internationally celebrated artists. Her corsets are worn by performers who cannot afford a garment that moves incorrectly, fits poorly or fails under pressure.

That standard doesn’t happen by accident. It comes from years of reading bodies, solving fitting problems on the spot, and understanding how a garment behaves when the person wearing it is performing at the highest level.

“In my work, there is no room for approximation. A corset either fits or it doesn’t. This masterclass teaches you how to guarantee the fit, every time.” – Amédine Bello

This masterclass gives you direct access to techniques that Amédine has developed and refined through her professional practice, techniques that aren’t documented in textbooks and aren’t taught in most universities.

The techniques you’ll learn in this masterclass are the same ones used on productions for:

  • The Royal Ballet & Opera, Royal Opera House
  • The English National Ballet
  • Major West End productions
  • Internationally recognised designers and performance artists

This is not a workshop run by a hobbyist or a teacher working from theory. Everything in this masterclass comes directly from active, high-level professional practice.

Why This Intake Is Different And Why You Shouldn't Wait

This is the very first time Amédine has opened this masterclass to students. That matters for two reasons.

First: the price. At £499 all-inclusive, this intake is intentionally accessible. As demand grows and the programme builds its reputation, the investment will increase. There is no guarantee this price will be available again.

Second: the access. With only 6 places available, every attendee receives a genuinely personal level of instruction. This is not a lecture hall. This is small-group, expert-led, hands-on learning.

In Summary:

  • Only 6 places available in total
  • One-off first intake, will not be repeated at this price
  • Doors close once places are filled, no waitlist guarantee
  • April 18th & 25th are a fixed date. There is no alternative session

If you’ve been meaning to bridge the gap between your degree and the professional world, this is the most direct route available to you right now.

Common Questions

Do I need prior corsetry experience?

No. This masterclass is designed for fashion and costume construction students and graduates. If you understand basic pattern making principles, you have everything you need to get maximum value from these two days.

Is this suitable for current students, not just graduates?

Yes. The masterclass is open to current students in fashion or costume construction programmes — primarily but not exclusively from London College of Fashion and other London-based universities — as well as recent graduates looking to strengthen their practical skills.

Do I need to bring anything?

No. All materials are provided and included in the price. Just bring yourself, your measurements sheet which will be provided in advance and filled in by yourself, and your focus.

Why is the group so small?

Because corsetry — and particularly fitting — cannot be properly taught in a large group. With 6 places maximum, Amédine can give every attendee the direct, personal feedback that makes the difference between a garment that fits and one that doesn’t.

What if I can’t make the April date?

This intake runs on 18th & 25th of April 2026 only. Future dates will be announced after this first cohort, and pricing for future rounds will be reviewed. If you’re interested in future availability, use the contact form to register your interest.
